Stine Seed Company helped celebrate the memory of an Iowa farmer and his remarkable contributions to the agriculture industry during an awards ceremony hosted by the Iowa Soybean Association on Thursday, January 26 in Ankeny. Stine Vice President of Sales and Marketing Myron Stine presented the Legacy of Leadership award to the Raasch family of Odebolt, Iowa, in remembrance of Curt Raasch. Curt and his wife Carol farmed for nearly 40 years near Odebolt.
“I was proud to present the Iowa Soybean Association’s ‘Legacy of Leadership’ award to Curt Raasch’s family on behalf of Stine Seed Company,” says Myron Stine. “Iowa’s agricultural landscape has been shaped by leaders like Curt who spent their lives working selflessly and tirelessly to advance the industry, directly benefiting not only Iowans, but people around the world.”
The Legacy of Leadership award is presented annually to an Iowa soybean farmer who has demonstrated a passionate commitment to growing the state’s soybean industry. Curt, who passed away in January 2011, was recognized for his work advancing the soybean industry and addressing issues of importance to Iowa farm families. His long history of service includes developing international relationships as a director of the Iowa Soybean Promotion Board, and serving as director and chairman for the United Soybean Board. He was also named a Master Farmer in 1999 by Wallaces Farmer magazine.
