Ian Matzenbacher
Field Agronomist
Joined Stine Seed Company 2022
Southern Illinois University (SIU) graduate Ian Matzenbacher joined the Stine agronomy department in August 2022 as a field agronomist. Ian received his B.S. in plant, soil and environmental management from SIU before landing his first role out of college as a junior crop advisor for a locally owned agricultural cooperative. Ian has worked in agriculture since he was 14 years old, helping on his generational family farm near Waterloo, Illinois, where they grow corn and soybeans and raise Hereford cattle.
As a field agronomist, Ian is responsible for providing agronomic advisory services and support to our sales team in Illinois. His primary goal is to grow and improve the corn side of the business. With a passion for learning, Ian looks to expand his knowledge in agronomy through any continuing education opportunity he can find to provide the best possible advice to our sales team, dealer network and grower customers.
Ian helps on the family farm, in his spare time, which was established by his great grandparents who emigrated from Germany. He also enjoys hunting, fishing, tractor pulling, and collecting and restoring antique farm equipment.
